Elder Nominations

Joel Bergman

My wife and I have been going to Arbor for six years.  We began attending in 2014 when our second set of twins Grace and Joy were born.  We have two sets of twins who are now six and eight.  The older twins Elijah and Elizabeth were only two when we came here so it’s been really special seeing them all grow up in this church and be loved by their teachers.

We have been very active with the Kroeze’s small group for a number of years and Marie and I serve with the children’s ministry.

Marie and I have been married for about 15 years now.  By the way, to some people she goes by her first name (Marie) and to some she goes by her middle name (Richelle).  I call her Chelly.  Her immediate family calls her Che Che.  A lot of people have asked for clarification on that.  The name switches have gotten confusing.

We’re both teachers.  Marie works for Cubberley in Long Beach.  She’ll be teaching third grade in the fall and I teach English for South Gate High School in LA.

I generally have very little spare time as you can imagine.  But I love Scrabble.  I love good books.  I love being a Dad.  I have tried for a while to surf, but the standing up part has still not happened, but I’m not giving up.  It is definitely on the bucket list for me though.

My name is Jesse Macias. My wife, Linda, and I have been married for 20 years. We have three children, ages 19, 16, and 12. I also have a 22 year old son.

We’ve been attending ARC for 10 years. My wife sings in choir and has also served on the prayer team. I serve in children’s ministries and occasionally as a public safety advisor.

I met my wife at Long Beach City College.  She was already a believer, but I was lost.  I knew that I wanted to know God like she knew him. Shortly after we met, I accepted Christ as my Savior. That was in 1998 and my life has never been the same since!

I graduated from CSULB with a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration. I am a Detective with Long Beach Police Department in the Computer Crimes detail. I am also a licensed Private Investigator. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my family, bike riding, running, reading e-books on leadership, faith building and expanding my knowledge in digital forensics.

I’m thankful for the opportunity to be considered to serve on the Elder Board. I look forward to many exciting and blessed years at ARC.

My wife, Leslie, and I have attended ARC since 1979. I was baptized here, and we both became church members shortly thereafter.

Leslie & I are active in a bi-weekly small group Bible study, which is very important to us. I’m also serving on our welcome team as an usher, a communion server, and a between-services coffee maker. I am currently serving on our ARC finance committee, and I have served on our Elder Board for a couple of terms in the past.

My wife and I have been married for 41 years and we have three adult daughters and nine grandkids. I’m employed as a senior estimating specialist for a commercial kitchen equipment company headquartered in Irvine, and Leslie is the rehab services manager at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach.

In my spare time I enjoy cooking and amusing others by trying to play golf; but most of all, I find joy in loving & playing with those grandkids.

I am honored to be nominated to serve as an Elder for another term at this church that I have prayed for and loved for over four decades.
