Outreach + Missions

Outreach Ministry

Our Outreach ministries exist to Know God and Make Him Known by activating the local church body into our calling to meet the Great 8 needs in our community.

At Arbor Road we desire to put our faith into action (James 2:15-17) by caring for the Great 8 needs in our community.

So what are the Great Eight?

In Matthew 25:31-46, Jesus calls Christians to care for the Hungry, Thirsty, Stranger, Naked, Sick, and Imprisoned and James 1:27 calls us to care for the Widow, and Orphan.

We know 8 is a lot to memorize, so we made it a little bit easier. Take the first letter from each and you get the acronym: WHO IS SNT?

It’s kind of a trick question, the answer is Jesus, and US! Jesus was sent to be a perfect example and sacrifice for our sins and to reconcile us back to God the Father. He was also sent for the Great Eight. We are in no way saviors, but we get to act as the hands and feet of Jesus in the world today.

More Ways to Serve

We can’t do it all. Do you see a need for a ministry? Pray about beginning a common cause group!

A common cause group is a group that meets together regularly to pray for, learn about, and help to meet needs of a cause that is of common interest to the group.

The goal of a common cause group is to develop awareness for the cause, and to help others in the greater church body to get involved in learning about and meeting the needs of this cause.

Stories

“This is a love thing for me. I get to connect and love the people by handing out food. And the consistency is important because the people rely on the help.”
Mark
Food Pantry Volunteer
“In that moment of receiving [C’s] husband’s donated clothes, I felt healing and comfort in the heart for both of us. It was an honor to care for someone else in need.”
Abel
Widow Care Volunteer
“When I help make an Easter basket for a TAY it brings a sense of community with the TAY. My hope is that when they get the baskets, I hope they see that they can give back to their community as well in any way they are able.”
